A smoothie for every type of customer

Three_people_drinking_smoothiesEvery café, restaurant, bar and resort professional knows that although no two customers are alike, there are certain types of customers who seem to walk through the door on any given day. Why not create customized smoothies for these characters? 

To create truly smooth smoothies, always put the liquids in first and blend them well. Then add any soft fruit or dry ingredients. Next, add ice or ice cream if the recipe calls for it. Last, put in stickier ingredients such as peanut butter. For the smoothest results, blenders that use a vertical blending technology are best. Also, look for quieter models that won’t disturb customers or staff.

Try these delicious drinks:

Caffeine Freak: He’s the guy who can’t get his motor started without a jolt of joe. And, it’s a good bet he knows his Sumatran from his Blue Mountain. Appeal to his need for caffeine with this creamy coffee smoothie that packs a punch.

Basic Coffee Smoothie
1 cup ice
1 cup coffee
1 banana
1 cup milk, you can also use almond milk
1 tablespoon honey
 
Blend until smooth and enjoy!

Workout Queen: Whether it’s a Zumba class, the treadmill or pumping a little iron, she makes the most of her gym membership. Whip up a smoothie that gives her the energy she needs to hit the weights again tomorrow.

Tangy Raspberry Smoothie
1 cup milk
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
1/2 cup ricotta cheese
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1 tablespoon ground flaxseed
1 tablespoon wheat germ
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
 
Blend and serve immediately.

Creamsicle Smoothie
3/4 cup frozen orange or orange-tangerine concentrate
1/2 cup cold water
1 cup vanilla ice cream
1 cup ice
Blend until creamy.

Healthy Hannah: She’s the one who always wants to eat a little healthier, but doesn’t want to sacrifice taste. This smoothie uses kale— hot in foodie circles—and relies on only natural sugars.  
 
Baby Kale Piña Colada Smoothie
1 cup baby kale
1 1/4 cups chopped unsweetened frozen pineapple
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 1/2 cups unsweetened coconut milk or coconut water (coconut milk will make a thicker smoothie)
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut chips or flakes (optional)
 
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

Breakfast Skipper: He’s always running out the door with his briefcase in one hand and checking his phone with the other. He rarely gets to gobble breakfast, but knows he needs something to boost him into his day. With this on the menu, he’ll be ready for anything.
 
Ultimate Breakfast Smoothie
1 banana

1 avocado

1 cup unsweetened frozen blueberries, plus more for garnish (optional)

1/2 peeled cucumber

1 tablespoon hemp powder (optional)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 dash cinnamon

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 cups packed baby spinach
 
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Garnish with additional frozen blueberries, if desired.

Strawberry Shortcake Smoothie
2 cups strawberries
1 cup crumbled pound cake
1 ½ cups milk
1 ½ cups ice
Sugar to taste
 
Blend lightly and top with whipped cream and more strawberries.

Orange Smoothie
4 servings
1 (6 ounce) can frozen orange juice concentrate
1 cup milk
1 cup water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/3 cup white sugar
10 cubes ice
 
In a blender, combine orange juice concentrate, milk, water, vanilla, sugar and ice. Blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and serve.
