Sometimes what one refers to as "old-fashioned" can still feel sophisticated. **Old-Fashioned Lemonade**

(*Recipe provided by the Florida Department of Citrus, Foodservice Division)*

 

Ingredients:

2 cups granulated sugar

2½ cups water

Juice of 6 lemons

Juice of 2 oranges

Grated peel of 1 orange

1 cup fresh mint leaves

*Garnish: mint leaves or lemon slices, if desired*

 

Instructions:

Use your [Hamilton Beach Commercial® commercial juicer](http://www.hamiltonbeachcommercial.com/en/commercial-juicers.html) to create this refreshing citrus drink.

1. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil; cook over medium high heat 5 minutes to create a simple syrup. Let cool.
2. Add lemon juice, orange juice, and orange peel to syrup. Add mint leaves. Cover and let stand 1 hour.
3. Strain lemon syrup into a jar or pitcher. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
4. For each serving, put ⅓ cup lemon syrup in an 8 ounce glass; fill with crushed ice and cold water. Stir or shake. Serve at once.
