We've covered the origins of the daiquiri [in a previous post](https://blog.hamiltonbeachcommercial.com/beverage/bar/how-did-the-daiquiri-get-its-name) on our blog, and here is an interesting take that uses a banana in place of the ubiquitous strawberry version that has been popular in the U.S. for decades.

**Banana Daiquiri**  
 (Source: Bartender Magazine, Foley Publishing Corporation)

Ingredients:  
 1¼ oz. light rum  
 ¼ oz. lemon or lime juice  
 ½ tsp. sugar  
 1 banana  
 1-1½ cups ice cubes

 

Instructions:

When blending frozen drinks, always put liquid ingredients in the jar of your [high-performance commercial blender](http://www.hamiltonbeachcommercial.com/en/high-performance-blenders.html) first. Follow by adding solid ingredients such as fruit and ice, blend for a few seconds, and enjoy your cool creation.
