For five days later this month, Fiera Milano in Milan will play host to over 135,000 attendees and more than 1900 exhibitors representing five continents around the globe. The HOST 2015 exhibition is so large that it requires 14 exhibit halls to contain all of the participants. The largest food and technology fair in the world, HOST draws this global audience to Italy every two years.
For this year’s event, the organizers have corralled a wide variety of manufacturers and distributors into three main categories:
- Professional Catering with Bread, Pizza and Pasta
- Coffee and Tea with SIC, the International Coffee, Bar Equipment and Vending Machines Fair plus Ice Cream and Pastry
- Furnishings and Tableware
In addition, the events calendar for the duration of the exhibition features over 400 special events, performances, seminars, workshops, show cooking and demonstrations by chefs, baristas and pastry makers.
And in fact, HOST is such a large conference and so significant that this year’s edition will include a stand for the Commercial Service of the US Department of Commerce, one of only a few international events where the United States will have a direct presence.

Add to that the fact that the final days of the Expo Milano 2015 -- better known as the “World’s Fair” that has given us such landmarks as the tour Eiffel in Paris and the Space Needle in Seattle -- will be taking place next door, and it’s a great reason to find a way to get to Milan between the 23rd and 27th of October.
